Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I am receiving this message ‘Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.’  over and over again, on different computers with XP SP2 IE6/IE7.

If disabling addons from Internet Explorer Tools menu and then enabling some of most important /Java, Flash, Shockwave/ does not help, you can try the following:

Go to Registry Editor /Start–>Run–>Regedt32–>OK/

Find this reg key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects and delete all subfolders /keys/

You can even delete all the key /folder/

Then press F5 to refresh and hope you will have no more problems.

Also, you may clear all the Temp files because the bigger Temp folder gets, the more memory it uses.

Start–>Run–> type   %temp%   and click OK

Then open Edit meny and click  “Select All” option.

Press Delete key.

Note that is possible some of files selected to be impossible to delete – they are active. Just skip them.

    I followed your suggestion and it worked like magic!

    However, I observed that when the application I was unable to open before now eventually start opening after the applying the suggestion, the application does not close when I try to do so.
    Please what could be done to further ease my operation?
